The Further Away From the Premier League, the Less Greedy Clubs Are

Can you imagine, for one fraction of a second, that any Premier League club would do something like this? Or any NFL club come to that. I don’t support Solihull Moors and hope we beat the pants off them twice this season, but I’ve gotta hand it to them for this:

Solihull Moors will use an upcoming home match to raise awareness of blood cancer.

Their National League game against Forest Green Rovers on 7 September will be dedicated to local charity Cure Leukaemia.

Moors’ ground, the ARMCO Arena, will be temporarily renamed the Cure Leukaemia Stadium and 10% of ticket sales will be donated to the charity.

Club chairman Darryl Eales is also running the London Marathon in April to raise money for them.

“It’s a wonderful charity with extraordinary people doing so much to try and help fight an illness that can affect anyone, at any age,” he said.

“We know our fans will donate and help at the Forest Green game and then if I can get round 26 miles to raise further awareness later in the season then I’m more than happy to do so.”
